Upsell Your Emblem Customers

April 1, 2008

Those customers who come to your shop for emblems also often need to embellish employee uniforms with a name badge. Some may want a temporary ID solution to save money when there's turnover and a uniform is passed to a new hire. Temporary name badges eliminate the need to embroider new name patches and the cost of ripping off the old and sewing on the new.

One source for that type of solution is World Emblem Intl. Inc., a Miami-based manufacturer of custom embroidered, screen-printed and sublimated emblems. World Emblem was demonstrating its magnetic badges at ISS Orlando in February and you can visit its Web site at worldemblem.com.

According to the company, each magnetic badge consists of a two-piece interlocking magnet fastener that allows it to be quickly and securely attached without damaging the garment. And if magnets don't fit the bill, customers can order the badges with pins at no additional cost, the company adds.

World Emblem says it uses its Perfect Print technology to sublimate any high-quality digital image right onto the badge with amazing clarity. That includes any combination of text, photographs, bar codes or other digital image.

Six standard sizes are available, including a circle, oval and several different-sized rectangles. Custom sizes also are available by request. — R.L.

Ink-Matching Tips
Screen printers have two options when it comes to ink color-matching systems: pigment concentrates (PC) or finished inks. Using pigment concentrates, printers can measure concentrated pigments according to the ink manufacturer's formulation guide and mix them with a plastisol carrier base. A finished ink system already has the correct base-to-pigment ratio, so the inks come ready to print.
